Chelsea supporters have destroyed Borussia Dortmund after a bid was rejected for Carney Chukwuemeka this summer.
Rumours surrounding Chukwuemeka will come as a shock to nobody at Stamford Bridge, having spent the second half of the 2024/25 campaign on loan at Borussia Dortmund before returning.
He made 17 appearances for the Bundesliga giants, scoring just once against Freiburg from the centre of midfield, the same number of games he has featured in for the Blues over the last two seasons.
With Dario Essugo, Andrey Santos, Enzo Fernandez, and Moises Caicedo all deputising in the middle of the park, there is very little room left for the 21-year-old to develop under Enzo Maresca.
According to Ben Jacobs on X (15 August), the Blues have rejected a loan offer from Dortmund, with the deal including a £15million obligation to buy clause ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
Chelsea signed the youngster from Aston Villa for £20m three summers ago [BBC Sport], and if he were to be linked with an exit this soon, the club would have liked to have made a profit on his signature.
Maresca has plenty of business left to do before the summer transfer window slams shut on 1 September, with plenty of deadweight piling up in the squad, but getting rid is a lot easier said than done.

While an offer has been made for Chukwuemeka, who is not a part of the manager’s plans in West London, it is no surprise to see it rebuffed by the Blues due to the player’s talents on the pitch.
One supporter was angry enough to label Dortmund a “complete joke”, while another suggested that the club should “end the negotiations here” following their unfair offer for the 21-year-old.
The Club World Cup champions will be searching for a resolution over their young midfielder, whose future surely lies elsewhere after barely being given an opportunity since his move from Villa Park.
Fans were already frustrated by Dortmund over the move for Jamie Gittens, who is already under pressure at Chelsea, earlier in the summer, but the German side will be hoping for some leniency over a deal going the other way.
