The Premier League have announced more details of the 2024/25 season ahead of this current campaign coming to it’s end.

After the start Liverpool had, there was high hopes that they could really push on all fronts this season.

But that disappointing FA Cup exit at hands of archrivals Manchester United just before the March international break knocked the Liverpool ship off it’s course.

Since then, the Reds have been knocked out of Europe and are all but out of the Premier League title race.

Liverpool’s 2-0 defeat in the Merseyside derby was a significant blow to their Premier League title aspirations – and felt like nail in the coffin

This result was particularly disheartening as it occurred during Jurgen Klopp’s final stretch with the team, casting a shadow over what many Liverpool fans hoped would be a triumphant send-off for the revered manager.

Instead of cruising off into the sunset with another league title, the reality is that it will now likely be a slow and disheartening final few games of the Premier League season.

Nevertheless, there is a new Premier League season to look forward, with Arne Slot likely to be the man to lead the Reds into the new campaign.

Premier League confirms when 2024/25 fixtures will be announced

The Premier League have confirmed that the release of all fixtures for the 2024/25 season will take place at 09:00 BST on Tuesday 18 June.

All dates for the 380 matches are set to be released at the same time.

The details of next season are laid out by the PL:

“The 2024/25 season will consist of 33 weekends, four midweek rounds of matches and one Bank Holiday Matchweek.”

“The Premier League 2024/25 season dates have been confirmed, with the campaign starting on 17 August 2024, 90 days after the 2023/24 Premier League concludes on 19 May.”

“The final match round of the 2024/25 season will be played on 25 May 2025, when all matches will kick off simultaneously as usual.”

“In keeping with previous commitments made to clubs to address the congested schedule across Christmas and New Year, arrangements will be made to allow more rest time over three of the festive match rounds, with no club playing within 60 hours of another match?

There will be no fixture on 24 December 2024.”

No mid-season break

The mid-season break has been eliminated from the schedule, permitting the Premier League to commence in mid-August.

This adjustment to the calendar extends the summer break, providing all Premier League clubs the opportunity to guarantee that players receive a continuous three-week vacation during the summer.

This change aligns with recommendations from medical and technical experts, who advocate for a more extended period of complete rest in the summer rather than a brief hiatus in the winter.
