Manager Jurgen Klopp has named his starting eleven to take on Luton Town at Anfield this evening.
The Reds will know that anything less than three points will be a failure in the context of this season’s title race.
Manchester City battled to a 1-0 win against Brentford last night, meaning they are now a single point behind Liverpool.
Arsenal are likewise on the heels of Jurgen Klopp’s men with only two points separating the two sides.
Klopp has picked a team based on who is available to him – with his squad being hit by many injuries heading into a crucial stage of the season.
The likes of Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joel Matip, Thiago Alcantara, Stefan Bajcetic, Diogo Jota, Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones are all unavailable to the German.
However, the German has managed the squad admirably in light of injuries received this season – so it should not be anything new to the 56-year-old.
Meanwhile, Luton Town manager Rob Edwards confirmed Elijah Adebayo will be unavailable after sustaining a hamstring injury in the warm-up before Sunday’s loss to Manchester United.
Adebayo is a big player for the Hatters and has managed nine Premier League goals in 23 appearances – a very impressive return.
Edwards has heaped praise on Liverpool ahead of the clash tonight, saying:
‘Even for Manchester City, it’s probably the toughest game of the season,” Edwards confessed via the BBC.
“Liverpool are an amazing team home or away, but Anfield is really special,”
“I think we’re going about things in a different way as well since that game [the reverse fixture].”
Ross Barkley, who has been in inspired form for the Hatters this season, was a point of discussion due to his status as a former Everton man.
Edwards was asked if Barkley will be ‘up for it’ at Anfield:
“I think he will be
He’s been very consistent and very good against every opposition that we’ve played, but there will be that little bit of motivation for him as well because of his past.”
The CONFIRMED Liverpool team to face Luton Town this evening:
Kelleher, Bradley, Van Dijk, Quansah, Gomez, Endo, Mac Allister, Gravenberch, Diaz, Gakpo, Elliott.
