Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s move from Chelsea to Everton has resulted in a lauding verdict from a forgotten Goodison Park man.
David Moyes’ frustrations in the transfer market had come to dominate Everton’s summer so far, with just four new additions made throughout the entirety of July and little over £50million spent on them.
Everton had already agreed the permanent signing of Carlos Alcaraz from Flamengo after last season’s loan spell and added Thierno Barry, Mark Travers and Adam Aznou, with only Barry expected to start.
The Toffees’ Premier League return against Leeds United on 18 August therefore looked too soon for Moyes to field his vision of a full-strength Everton squad, but Dewsbury-Hall’s arrival changes that.

Everton finally broke through in their pursuit of Dewsbury-Hall on 4 August as Fabrizio Romano reported that the Toffees had agreed a deal of £25million including add-ons, paving the way to their fifth signing.
He only left a promoted Leicester City side for Chelsea 12 months ago, and Dewsbury-Hall completed his medical at Finch Farm on Wednesday before Everton officially announced the 26-year-old’s arrival.
With Dewsbury-Hall at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, the Toffees posted on Instagram to announce his arrival, saying: “We have completed the transfer of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Chelsea for an undisclosed fee.
Welcome to Everton, Kiernan!”

Football Insider Verdict
With Dewsbury-Hall through the doors as Everton’s fifth signing of the summer and Moyes’ squad finally starting to take shape for this season, attention now turns to the loan market and a certain Jack Grealish.
Everton brought in Alcaraz as well as Jack Harrison, Jesper Lindstrom, Orel Mangala and Armando Broja on season-long loan deals last term, and are keen to do the same with the Manchester City wideman.
Grealish is out of favour at the Etihad Stadium and has long since been tipped to make a move to Merseyside, but as has been the case for so many of Everton’s summers, any move will come down to their financial capabilities.
