Conor Gallagher’s potential switch to Tottenham has taken a fresh twist after Arsenal won the race for Eberechi Eze’s signature.
Spurs have been left stunned by the Crystal Palace star‘s last-minute switch to their director rivals, with Mikel Arteta having the last laugh ahead of the 1 September deadline this summer.
Thomas Frank’s side are likely to be scrambling for a new target, with Stefan Borson telling Football Insider that Man City would accept £70million for Savinho, with that whole drama set to continue.
Bringing in more attacking reinforcement is even more vital following James Maddison‘s new long-term injury in North London, but Eze will not be the figure to plug that hole in the group.
Instead, Atletico Madrid’s Gallagher has been linked with a move back to England after leaving Chelsea in August 2024, though any deal for the 25-year-old will not be simple.

According to The Independent (21 August), Spurs have looked into reviving a deal for Gallagher, but there is a general feeling that his wages at Atletico Madrid are much too high for the Lilywhites.
Football Insider revealed earlier this month that Tottenham were attempting to bring Gallagher back to the Premier League, but the La Liga giants would put up a hard bargain this summer.

Football Insider verdict
Despite a rather convincing opening-game win over Burnley, several aspects of the squad appear in desperate need of improvement, but Eze will not be able to help in the final third.
Deals have been done for Joao Palhinha, Mohammed Kudus, and Mathys Tel, but after an initial big spend from Daniel Levy, supporters have been left disappointed by the rest of the window.
Spurs fans are now outraged to lose out on Palace’s most talented player, especially to their direct rivals, and it remains to be seen who will be the new target before the transfer window slams shut.

An upcoming away clash against Man City will truly put the cat amongst the pigeons, proving which players are ready for the new era at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
After Yves Bissouma was left out of Spurs’ squad to face PSG, he is just one of several players who need to find new clubs, but very little business is being done in the final stages of the transfer window.
Frank is being backed by the majority of supporters in North London, but if he is unable to mould the squad to his desire this summer, it could be a tricky campaign ahead for the former Brentford boss.
