Leeds fans have reacted in their hundreds online after the club confirmed the arrival of former Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin ahead of their Premier League return.

Leeds‘ summer window has been slow and steady up to now, but their business looks set to accelerate with the new season around the corner and more additions needed to Daniel Farke’s squad.

The Whites have moved to provide competition to Joel Piroe’s striker spot recently with the free signing of Wolfsburg forward Lukas Nmecha to bolster Farke’s squad, but it always looked as if they were not done with striker arrivals this summer.

Calvert-Lewin left Everton at the end of his contract in June after Football Insider had revealed that the Toffees were resigned to losing the England striker following multiple contract extension rejections.

Football Insider also revealed that Newcastle and Fulham were among the teams interested in Calvert-Lewin as he weighed up his options, but the BBC (13 August) soon reported that he was closing in on a move to Elland Road, and the move has now been confirmed.

Leeds moved to announce Calvert-Lewin’s arrival at the club on Friday (15 August), with an X post that read: “Welcome, Dominic!

(LUFC) is delighted to announce the signing of Dominic Calvert-Lewin.”

The 28-year-old has signed a three-year deal at Elland Road [Leeds], and while he struggled to get a look in at Everton over the last few years, he can be a decent Premier League forward when in-form, with 57 goals in 239 appearances in the top-flight up to now.
