Crystal Palace has been advised to offload Marc Guehi this summer by the club's former owner, with Liverpool keeping a close eye on the England international's situation as his contract nears its end.

Last summer, the Eagles turned down four offers from Newcastle United, the highest being £65 million ($89 million), and also rebuffed Tottenham Hotspur's attempts to secure the 24-year-old in January.

Liverpool is on the hunt for a new center-back after agreeing to Jarell Quansah's move to Bayer Leverkusen.



It has also been suggested that the England international might be willing to see out his contract at Selhurst Park and then leave as a free agent next summer.

Similarly, Liverpool is closely monitoring his current situation at Palace, evaluating whether a bargain deal could be struck this summer or whether to revisit their interest in a year when Guehi will be available on a Bosman transfer.

Simon Jordan, former owner of Palace, has now encouraged the Eagles to sell Guehi this summer.

He believes they have little hope of keeping the England international, especially with Liverpool showing interest.
