Oliver Glasner is set to allow one of his forwards to leave Crystal Palace after the player did not travel to Villa Park.

Jean-Philippe Mateta picked up a bizarre booking as the Eagles slotted three goals past Unai Emery‘s side on Sunday, 31 August, with Marc Guehi and Ismaila Sarr piling the pressure on the Villans.

The club have already lost Eberechi Eze to Arsenal, already being replaced by Yeremi Pino, while 21-year-old Justin Devenny has taken the opportunity in his stride with more game time.

However, more players could leave before the 7pm deadline on Monday, 1 September, leaving Eddie Nketiah, Romain Esse, Sarr, and Mateta as the main attacking options.

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi could also leave Selhurst Park this summer, likely on loan, but it is Odsonne Edouard who could finally seal a permanent move away from Palace before the transfer window slams shut.

According to Sky Sports (1 September, 9:40am), Edouard has been told he can find another club after being left out of the Palace squad to face Aston Villa on Sunday, 31 August.

It is believed that the 27-year-old is heading to Ligue 1 club Lens, having made just four appearances for the Eagles over the last two seasons at Selhurst Park.

He spent last season on loan at Leicester City, where he made just six appearances as the Foxes were relegated from the Premier League, with Glasner clearly keen to offload him now.

Football Insider verdict

Glasner has done incredibly well to create history at Selhurst Park, with two trophies lifted over the last couple of months, but the players who achieved those goals are set to leave.

Eze has already made his debut for Mikel Arteta and the Gunners, and now, Marc Guehi is of massive interest to Liverpool, with Ibrahima Konate struggling in the opening few games for Arne Slot.

Football Insider understands that Guehi is set to follow Alexander Isak to Anfield, with the striker set to undergo his medical before the transfer deadline on 1 September.

The Reds could be absolutely unstoppable with these two deals, but it would leave Glasner, who wants to keep the defender, with a gaping hole in the middle of his defence.

Palace have been interested in multiple defenders over the summer, including Sporting CP‘s Ousmane Diomande in preparation for Guehi’s exit, but no deal has materialised yet.

The situation surrounding the Eagles’ current centre-back could go right down to the wire, which makes finding a replacement for him all the more difficult for Glasner and his staff.
