Liverpool’s attempts to sign Marc Guehi rests in the hands of Crystal Palace, with a deal for the defender more complicated than it seems.
Crystal Palace have admitted they want to sell Guehi this summer to avoid losing him on a free as the 25-year-old is in the final year of his contract at the club.
Football Insider exclusively revealed that Guehi’s proposed move to Liverpool could be delayed due to a stand off between the club’s in regards to the transfer fee set out.
Palace want £40million for Guehi, but Liverpool have so far been reluctant to meet the Eagles’ asking price.
Guehi could join Liverpool.
Crystal Palace must sanction a sale for their captain their summer if they do not want to lose him on a free, and Guehi only wants to join Liverpool over any other interested club.
In a World Cup year, Guehi must decided if he wants to continue as a key component in the Palace back four or move to Anfield and have to fight for his place alongside Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate.

If Liverpool can’t facilitate a move for Guehi this summer then the Reds will not look at another centre-back as they have just signed 18-year-old Giovanni Leoni from Parma.

The longer the Guehi saga continues, the more likelier it seems that the centre-back will leave the club on a free next summer.
Liverpool seem in no rush amid the quality options they already possess in that position, so Arne Slot is unlikely to go full out to sort a move quickly.
Palace would be unwilling to lose Guehi alongside the expected departure of team mate Eberechi Eze, with the pair crucial to the Eagles.
