Liverpool are continuing talks with Crystal Palace over a summer move for Marc Guehi.
The Reds opened negotiations last week, with the defender keen on joining Anfield.
We exclusively revealed back in March that Liverpool held talks with Marc Guehi’s representatives.
Since then, we also revealed that Liverpool have reached an agreement on personal terms with the England international.
Liverpool are willing to pay up to £30m up front for central defender, who has less than 12 months left on his contract, but Palace are hoping for a fee closer to £40m.
Palace manager Glasner named Guehi in his starting XI at Chelsea, even though the defender was involved in an incident that saw Eberechi Eze’s potential match-winning free-kick disallowed.
With Eze also strongly linked with a move away before the September 1 deadline – both Arsenal and Tottenham are reportedly interested – Glasner has stressed he will continue selecting players regardless of transfer speculation.
“As much as I know, Eze has a contract with Crystal Palace, he’s a Crystal Palace player and he showed it today,” said Glasner.
“As long as he is a Palace player and performs like this he will play for us?
Nobody has told me something else.
“The players are giving their answer (to press speculation) week by week.
“Last week winning against Liverpool on penalties (in the Community Shield) and here against the club world champions.”
According to The Independent, Crystal Palace are eyeing Rennes defender Jeremy Jacquet if Marc Guehi moves to Liverpool, though the transfer is still uncertain.
Jacquet would likely cost around £35million.
The 20-year-old is the latest French talent to emerge from the Bondy area of Paris, which has also produced stars such as Kylian Mbappe.
Jacquet was named in the team of the tournament at last summer’s Under-19 European Championship, where France reached the final.
He also impressed during his loan spell at Clermont last season, where he made 24 appearances, scored two goals, and provided two assists across all competitions.
