It would seem that Crystal Palace are making arrangements for the potential sale of Marc Guehi this summer.
The Reds have been monitoring Guehi for some time, with DaveOCKOP exclusively revealing in March that Liverpool had held preliminary talks with the player’s representatives to determine conditions for a potential transfer.
With just one year remaining on his contract at Selhurst Park and no prospect of renewal, Crystal Palace are now ready to cash in on their captain rather than risk losing him for free next summer.
Despite previously valuing Guehi at around £70 million and rejecting substantial offers from Tottenham and Newcastle in previous transfer windows, Palace are now expected to accept a fee in the region of £40-55 million for the defender.
The former Chelsea academy product, who joined Palace for £18 million in 2021, has established himself as one of the Premier League’s finest defenders and captained the Eagles to their first-ever FA Cup triumph last season.
His performances for both club and country have attracted interest from several top clubs.
But this week, DaveOCKOP reported on Thursday that the Reds could accelerate a move for the England international should Jarell Quansah be moved on the summer.
With Quansah well on his way to completing a move to Bayer Leverkusen, the Cheslea youth product is firmly in the sights of Richard Hughes and co.
And it seems that Palace accept there is a distinct possibility their star defender leaves this summer.
Rising Stars XI, later corroborated by Fabrizio Romano, has reported that the Eagles have identified Ousmane Diomande as his preferred replacement at the heart of the Eagles’ defence.
The 21-year-old Sporting CP defender has caught the eye since joining the Portuguese club from FC Midtjylland in January 2023 for €12.5 million.
Palace have already made enquiries about Diomande’s availability and have now stepped up their interest by entering formal negotiations with Sporting.
According to Fabrizio Romano, talks between the clubs are progressing well, with Glasner having given the green light to the move.
The player himself is reportedly keen on making the switch to the Premier League, which could facilitate the transfer.
While Diomande’s contract with Sporting contains a release clause of £68 million (€80 million), the Portuguese club are understood to be willing to negotiate a lower fee.
Reports suggest they could accept around £40 million for the defender, a similar figure to what Palace expect to receive for Guehi.
