Crystal Palace have received a response in their bid to sign Bournemouth’s David Brooks with the club expected to be in store for a busy few days with the transfer deadline rapidly approaching.
Crystal Palace are looking to add some much-needed firepower and quality to their ranks after the Eberechi Eze recently departed the club to join Arsenal.
The Eagles have experienced a tough transfer window up to now, which has only been made worse by his exit and uncertainty around the future of another key player, with Football Insider revealing on Friday (29 August) that Crystal Palace are preparing to accept an offer for Marc Guehi from Liverpool.
Oliver Glasner has insisted that the club’s board “have to act” late in the window to get signings over the line, and Crystal Palace have been linked with a move for Bournemouth’s David Brooks as they aim to bring in multiple replacements for Eze.
Yeremy Pino has now arrived at Selhurst Park to bolster the Austrian’s attacking ranks, yet a move for Wales international Brooks may not be very straightforward to complete following a new report.

The Guardian’s Ed Aarons reported via X (29 August) that Palace had submitted an £8million bid for Brooks.
However Bournemouth are against selling him right now and instead have been in talks over extending his deal.
Aarons then went on to reveal underneath his original post that the Cherries had officially rejected Palace’s bid amid their desire to keep the Welsh winger.

He stated that the Eagles are considering whether to come back with a new offer before the deadline closes on Monday (1 September), however, and went on to insist that the club are in for a “manic last few days” of the transfer window with so many attacking targets being discussed.
Football Insider verdict
Palace have lost a huge influence and their main attacking threat in Eze, and with boss Glasner already known to be unhappy at the club’s summer business, they have had to accelerate moves for new signings no matter the potential cost.
Brooks would be a smart and relatively low-risk buy, as he has a lot of top-flight experience and has shone at Bournemouth over recent seasons, but is also unlikely to contribute enough to be a sole replacement for the new Arsenal man.

With Palace now having officially signed Pino from Villarreal for around £26m [BBC], bringing in another decent, yet less flashy, attacker like Brooks would mean that their depth is adequate for the long season ahead.
They clearly still have work to do to secure his signature, but if they do return with another more suitable offer to Bournemouth, then it would not be a surprise to see him make the move to Selhurst Park due to their European status and potential progression to come under Glasner.
