Cuiabano is re-joining his previous club Botafogo just a matter of days after signing for Nottingham Forest.

Owner Evangelos Marinakis went large in the summer transfer window, forking out £200.8million (Squawka) to bring in new talent for manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

In particular, the club struck up deals with Botafogo, signing four players from the Brazilian outfit including the hijack by Nottingham Forest of West Ham target John Victor.

On top of this, Nottingham Forest also signed Igor Jesus and Jair Cunha from Botafogo to add greater depth to the squad ahead of the added fixtures from the Europa League.

Cuiabano became the fourth player to join from the Carioca side, yet it looks like the left-back will be heading back home straight away.

According to ge.globo (2 September), the Brazilian will return to the alvinegro on loan after voicing his eagerness to return to his former club.

On Friday 29 August, Botafogo sold Cuiabano to the Garibaldi for an undisclosed fee before negotiations ended on Tuesday 2 September for a finalised loan move back to the Rio de Janeiro side.

When Forest signed the duo of Jesus and Cunha earlier this transfer window, it added to Espirito Santo’s track record of creating a Lusophonic core to his teams.

Outside of Portugal, the former Tottenham manager has consistently sourced players that speak the same language as him.

Most memorably, his Wolves squad was dominated by Portugal nationals such as Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho.

This concept has now been focused more heavily on Brazilians with seven of them now in the Forest fold.

Owner Marinakis has clearly constructed a friendly agreement with Botafogo owner John Textor to keep funnelling Brazilian prodigies to the City Ground.

Moreover, the Greek will most likely also be aware of Espirito Santo’s preference to build a Lusophonic nucleus to his side which will certainly satisfy the Portuguese manager.
