Cody Gakpo chose to spend some of his time off connecting with his roots in Togo, his father’s native country.
Instead of heading to a typical luxury resort destination, the 26-year-old Liverpool striker made the meaningful decision to explore his ancestral heritage.
Ryan Gravenberch has also made the most of summer break by organizing a youth football tournament in Suriname called “Back to the Roots”.
The Liverpool midfielder’s trip to his family’s homeland has been both personally fulfilling and socially impactful.
The event took place on June 21 at the Owroe Cul sports complex, featuring tournaments for U-14 and U-16 youth players.
Beyond the sporting activities, Gravenberch has also been involved in social projects.
Meanwhile, Curtis Jones has taken the chance propose to his long-term partner this week, Saffie Khan.
