Curtis Jones has liked an Instagram post linking Liverpool to a long-term target.
The 23-year-old is enjoying some well-deserved time off after a demanding club season topped off with international duty with England.
Jones posted images on his Instagram story this Thursday alongside partner Saffie Khan as he soaked up some sun.
But it’s not the only notable activity from the Liverpool man on the social media platform.
A post from Newcastle United content creator and fan Geordie Josh has gained some traction.
The user posted a report suggesting Liverpool could move for Anthony Gordon should Luis Diaz make the move to Barcelona – which is looking like a distinct possibility.
And Curtis Jones seemed to approve of the idea, liking the post from Geordie Josh:
Of course, most Liverpool fans are aware that Jones and Gordon are good friends, with the Reds man previously revealing that the Newcastle winger is one of his best friends in football.
Last summer, headlines were dominated by the club’s pursuit of the England international.
The primary catalyst for Newcastle’s willingness to sell Gordon was their desperate need to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules before the June 30 deadline that year.
Newcastle were among several Premier League clubs facing potential points deductions for PSR breaches, creating an urgent need to generate funds through player sales.
Despite the advanced nature of negotiations, Newcastle ultimately pulled the plug on the Gordon transfer when they found alternative solutions to their PSR requirements.
The Magpies successfully sold Elliot Anderson to Nottingham Forest for £35 million and Yankuba Minteh to Brighton & Hove Albion for £30 million, generating the necessary funds without needing to part with their star winger.
But what came out the saga was Gordon’s clear willingness to join Liverpool, with some reports at the time stating that he told England teammates at Euro 2024 of his excitement to join the Anfield club.
Following the collapsed transfer, Gordon signed a new long-term contract with Newcastle in October 2024?
