Newcastle United are ready to bring in further attacking reinforcements after Dan Burn welcomed their latest signing to the club.

Eddie Howe has seen his side’s summer transfer discourse dominated by talks of one player leaving the club, and that man Alexander Isak is finally expected to complete his switch to Liverpool on deadline day.

Isak’s record-breaking fee of £125million hasn’t gone down well with Newcastle fans demanding the club stick to their previous £150m price tag, and the Swede’s anticipated exit pits them in a race against time.

Newcastle have explored deals for both Yoane Wissa and Jorgen Strand Larsen in the final hours of the transfer window, but Brentford and Wolves are doing all they can to block Newcastle’s respective bids.

Football Insider revealed on Sunday that Newcastle will accelerate their pursuit of Wissa after his public statement of intent to leave Brentford on social media, and Isak’s departure will speed this up further.

Callum Wilson‘s exit had already left Newcastle short of options up front, but they have taken steps to replace the sizeable attacking presence of Isak by bringing in Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart on Friday.

Football Insider Verdict

Newcastle’s summer transfer outlays have been restricted by PSR in recent seasons and that’s also been the case this summer, with Woltemade only their fourth first-team addition to command a transfer fee.

With almost £200million spent overall and just £30m brought in for both Lloyd Kelly and Sean Longstaff, however, selling Isak for a British record £125m will allow Newcastle to launch a late spree in the window.

Brentford’s previous price tag of £50m for Wissa has now been raised to £65m and Wolves have set out a similar stall for Strand Larsen, but with a huge sum about to be in their transfer kitty, Newcastle have the funds to force through either deal.
