Daniel Levy looks set to pay a steep price for missing out on the signing of Eberechi Eze, as Tottenham learn how much it could cost to sign Morgan Rogers.
Eze has been one of the Premier League’s most wanted targets all summer, and for some time, the Crystal Palace star looked destined to join Spurs.
However, Levy has drawn the ire of Tottenham fans by missing out on Eze, with none other than London rivals Arsenal looking set to complete a dramatic swoop from under their noses.
Now, attention must turn to other targets as Thomas Frank looks to bolster his new forward line — and one of them appears to be Aston Villa star Rogers.

As reported by Football Insider, Villa have been doing everything they can to keep Rogers amid interest from Chelsea.
However, their resolve is about to be tested further, with Tottenham now identifying the England international as a priority alternative to Eze.
According to the Independent (21 August), contact has already been made between Tottenham and Rogers’ representatives.

However, price could be a massive stumbling block for the Lilywhites, who believe it could cost around £80million to secure his signing.
That is only a hunch in Spurs circles, with Aston Villa likely to demand even more for a star player with five years still remaining on his contract.
There is hope for Spurs with Villa currently facing a battle to remain compliant with both Uefa and Premier League spending rules.
The sales of Jacob Ramsey to Newcastle and Leon Bailey to Roma have gone a long way to offset those issues, but there still remains a possibility that Villa could come under scrutiny, meaning another big departure could be on the cards.

Football Insider verdict
While Spurs will look to leverage Villa’s financial position against them, they look set to pay a heavy price for missing out on Eze.
Levy’s insistence on trying to cut costs at all turns and inability to strike decisively in the market have once again cost the Lilywhites, who must now watch on as their top summer target dons the red and white of Arsenal.
And now, the best case scenario is an £80m deal for Rogers, which is £12m more than Arsenal are paying for Eze.
And that’s the best-case scenario, with Villa equally likely to use Tottenham’s desperation to strike a deal as a bargaining chip — with Levy now under immense pressure from fans after missing out not only on Eze this summer, but also Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest.
Of course, this isn’t a new problem for Tottenham fans, who have watched their club behave this way for years now.
But it never gets easier to take.
Meanwhile, Levy is facing the very real prospect of paying a heavy price for his ‘penny pinching‘.
