The Danish commentator on the receiving end of a controversial outburst from Jurgen Klopp has insisted he has no problem with the Liverpool manager’s outburst during their heated interview.

After seeing his side fall to a last-minute extra-time 4-3 defeat to bitter-rivals Manchester United, the German stormed out of his post-match interview with Viaplay after taking offence at repeatedly being asked about the condition of his players, given their hefty injury-list and intense schedule.

While prematurely ending the interview, Klopp would say to the interviewer, Niels Christian Frederiksen: "Come on, you´re obviously not in a great shape and I have no nerves for you.

Inevitably, the exchange went viral, with Frederiksen claiming it continued after the cameras stopped rolling.

However, the Danish commentator has defended Klopp’s reaction, insisting he had no problem with Liverpool boss’s negative reaction to his questioning and clarified that the German had not actually attacked his personal appearance.

"I interpret it mostly as an expression of his terrible frustration that they lost to Manchester United in the manner it happened, where they were ahead twice and should have sealed the deal,” Frederiksen told Tipsbladet.

I don't think he holds a grudge, and I certainly don't."

Asked if Klopp had insinuated that he was overweight, Frederiksen quickly dismissed the suggestion.

"No, no, no, that was not at all what he meant,” he insisted.

There was nothing else."

Despite Klopp’s reaction, Frederiksen defended his questioning and admitted he would not have done anything differently.

Meanwhile, he also revealed that he does not expect to hear anything from Liverpool following the viral exchange.

"No, not at all.

He says they lack intensity in extra time, so it was natural to ask why the intensity wasn't there.

"They've had many injuries, and they've complained about the schedule, and I can understand him in that, but he could have just said that."

Meanwhile, Frederiksen also revealed what happened in the tunnel at Old Trafford after the cameras had stopped rolling, sharing his initial reaction to Klopp’s outburst and how it wasn’t the end of angry exchange.

"I was very surprised by it, and those standing around were scared,” he said.
