Danny Mills has hailed Fabinho despite Liverpool suffered a 3-0 defeat against Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday, as per Football Insider.

The 26-year-old midfielder remained sidelined for nearly two months after he suffered an ankle ligament injury in the Champions League match against Napoli in November.

He rejoined the Reds’ first team at the end of January after making a full recovery.

Before coming to Anfield, the Brazilian was an important member of AS Monaco where he made 105 league appearances and scored 22 goals.

He has been impressive for Jurgen Klopp’s side since his transfer move in 2018, racking up 69 appearances and scoring two goals for the Premier League outfit.

Former Manchester City defender Mills was gushing about the defensive midfielder:

“Fabinho is a defensive player but he allows Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold to go forward at the same time. Playing Fabinho is an attacking option in a weird way. He sits there and sometimes plays as a third centre-half. He does not really go anywhere, he just sits in that pocket of space and he is very good at doing that. That is what happens.

“He is not going to stand out in many games but you will notice him when he is not there and I think that is a massive compliment to him and a huge accolade to give him.”

Liverpool were soundly beaten 3-0 by Nigel Pearson’s side on Saturday as Ismaila Sarr and Troy Deeney both got on the scoresheet.

However, they are currently 22 points clear at the top of the table, meaning the recent defeat won’t dampen the festive mood at the Anfield club.
