Liverpool bosses will be keeping a close eye on Euro 2020 for a number of reasons this summer following the opening of the latest transfer window earlier this month.

And should he decide to leave Leicester in search of starting football, Liverpool would be set to profit having inserted a 20% sell-on clause in the deal that saw him join the Foxes.

However, he has won 10 international caps for Wales since leaving Liverpool and his international exploits could help earn the Reds an unexpected windfall.

It remains to be seen whether Ward would look to quit Leicester, having served as Schmeichel’s understudy for three seasons, but Liverpool will be keeping an eye on his situation and the possibility of the goalkeeper handing their transfer budget a welcome boost.

Danny Ward left Anfield to sign for Leicester City in a £12.5m move back in the summer of 2018 as Liverpool brought in Alisson to replace Loris Karius as the club’s new first-choice goalkeeper.

But it is not just current Liverpool players who could help boost the Reds’ warchest this close-season.

Meanwhile, club bosses will also have fingers crossed that the likes of Xherdan Shaqiri and Harry Wilson perform well for Switzerland and Wales respectively to enhance their transfer values ahead of potential moves this summer.
