After the Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez transfer sagas are wrapped up once and for all, the next Liverpool must answer is the place of Darwin Nunez at the club.

If the 25-year-old is to leave, a replacement would surely be required.

It has been action stations at Anfield in this brief, ten-day period clubs are allowed to conduct their business in before the full summer transfer window comes into effect on June 16.

Here, the ECHO rounds up the latest Liverpool headlines surrounding Nunez and his uncertain future.

Nunez next on the list

According to the Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Darwin Nunez is on Al-Hilal's radar as time creeps away in this initial transfer period.

The Saudi Pro League club have been trying, but ultimately failing, to add a star player to their ranks before they take part in the reformatted FIFA Club World Cup, which starts in nine days' time.

If the PIF-backed club were to make their move in the coming days, or indeed at all this summer, it would mark the reemergence of interest after the Reds turned down an approach from the Gulf state in January.

Al-Hilal's interest in Nunez was also reported last week.

Comes after £55m offer rejected

This development around the Liverpool striker came following word from Fabrizio Romano of Al-Hilal presenting their project to Napoli's Victor Osimhen while offering the club €65m (£54m) plus €5m (£4.2m) worth of add-ons.

"Understand Victor Osimhen deal with Al Hilal, about to collapse as there’s no agreement with the player," Romano posted on X.

Later on, another update said this had been turned down by the striker personally.

Before that, they had tried to tempt Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes to make the move but finally the 30-year-old decided he was better off staying at Old Trafford.

And following the paper trail back to many months ago, GIVEMESPORT would claim that the money on the table, potentially soon for Nunez, has come from the budget set aside to try and sign Mohamed Salah for free had he not renewed terms with Liverpool back in April.

Salah's contract was due to expire in the summer but he penned a fresh deal for another two seasons at Anfield.
