Darwin Nunez’s turbulent three-year stint at Liverpool is set to come to an end this summer, with the Uruguayan striker having already given his approval to leave the Premier League champions.
The 25-year-old forward, who became Liverpool’s record signing when he joined from Benfica in 2022, has fallen out of favor under manager Arne Slot and is now actively seeking a new challenge.
Napoli are believed to be the most advanced for the Uruguayan, and they believe they will be able to get the 25-year-old at a discounted price.
The striker’s contract runs until 2028, giving Liverpool a strong negotiating position despite his reduced playing time
However, the club appears willing to accept a financial loss on their investment rather than retain an asset that is going to depreciate as time goes on.
Now Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Nunez has given his green light to join the Naples side.
“Understand Darwin Nunez has given his initial green light to Napoli, open to the move after being presented Conte’s project,” the Italian wrote on X.
“Deal now depends on financial feasibility as Liverpool want important transfer fee and salary will also be key topic.”
