Darwin Nunez has ended his three-year spell at Liverpool, saying an emotional goodbye after completing a move to Al-Hilal.

Darwin Nunez’s Liverpool journey has officially come to an end.

The Uruguayan striker has completed a move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal on a three-year deal worth €53m (£46.3m).

It closes a chapter that began in June 2022 with big expectations after his £64m transfer from Benfica.

Nunez’s time at Anfield was a mixture of highs and frustrations.

He scored 40 goals in 143 games, but his form in front of goal was often inconsistent.

His finishing numbers became a talking point, with missed chances and a low shot conversion rate contrasting with his bursts of match-winning brilliance.

Liverpool fans will remember his dramatic late goals, from the 10-man comeback at Newcastle in August 2023 to his stoppage-time winner at Nottingham Forest in March 2024.

There were also double strikes against Brentford that kept the title push alive.

Yet, he never fully nailed down a regular starting role, especially after Arne Slot replaced Jurgen Klopp.

With new attacking signings Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz arriving this summer, the move to Al-Hilal seemed inevitable.

Liverpool thanked him for his efforts, and now attention turns to how the team moves forward.
