Darwin Nunez and his Liverpool future was slightly muddied following the much-needed 4-2 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Darwin Nunez’s recent performances in a Liverpool jersey have raised concerns among fans and pundits alike.

The Uruguayan striker has faced mounting criticism for his lack of efficiency in the attacking third, something other forwards such as Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz have been guilty of at times this season.

Nunez’s cameo appearance in Liverpool’s 4-2 triumph over Tottenham Hotspur was particularly disappointing, marked by a missed clear-cut chance in stoppage time.

Despite showing promising form and regularly contributing goals and assists leading up to the FA Cup defeat to Manchester United, Nunez, like many of his teammates, has struggled to replicate that performance since.

Since the FA Cup exit on March 17th, the 24-year-old has only managed to find the net once in the Premier League.

With just 11 Premier League goals to his name, Nunez’s recent goal drought raises doubts about his effectiveness as a striker capable of leading a title-winning campaign.

Further doubt has been cast following a report from the Telegraph, which detailed how Nunez will ‘lose his biggest ally’ when Jurgen Klopp departs in the summer.

It is believed that the German wanted Darwin Nunez, and that Michael Edwards and co.

will judge the 24-year-old harshly having not pushed for his signing.

After the Tottenham game, Nunez removed most of his Liverpool-related posts on Instagram – certainly all his posts this season.

And it now seems that the Uruguayan has broken his silence on social media since the weekend.

Darwin Nunez breaks silence

Taking to X, Liverpool’s No.9 congratulated his compatriot and former Liverpool man Luis Suarez on reaching the remarkable achievement of 500 career goals.

He commented on Suarez’ post ‘Idolo’ meaning idol – in reference to the immense respect he has for Inter Miami striker.

There was plenty of support in the comments for Nunez, which is great to see from fellow Liverpool fans.

Darwin Nunez and Luis Suarez are known to have a good relationship, and back in November last year Liverpool’s No.9 revealed his happiness at working with him at the national team:

“Suárez, for me, is a plus because he always gives me advice,” Nunez explained.

“He is the best in the history of Uruguay, the scorer, and whenever he has to come I try to get together with him, drink mates and talk about everything a little.”

“He makes me very happy here with all of us?

You have to enjoy it because he is the best striker in the world.”

David Ornstein has already said that he can’t see Darwin Nunez being sold this summer, partly because of the fee Liverpool paid for him in 2022.

So, the best thing we can do is get behind the Uruguayan and help him consistently reach the level that saw him excel at Benfica.
