Darwin Núñez has completed a permanent transfer from Liverpool FC to Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal. The Uruguayan striker finalized the move in August 2025 after three years at Anfield, with the transfer subject to international clearance.

Núñez joined Liverpool in June 2022 from Benfica for an initial fee of £64 million and made 143 appearances, scoring 40 goals during his tenure. He scored on his competitive debut and contributed to Liverpool's victory in the FA Community Shield against Manchester City. His first season included 15 goals in 42 appearances, earning him the club’s Standard Chartered Player of the Month award twice. In the following season, he improved his tally to 18 goals, playing a key role early on, including crucial late goals at Newcastle United.

During the 2024-25 season, which was his final with the Reds, Núñez was part of Liverpool’s squad that won the Premier League title. A memorable highlight was his stoppage-time brace securing a 2-0 win away at Brentford in January 2025.

The transfer deal to Al-Hilal is reportedly worth a fixed fee of £46.2 million (€53 million) plus additional add-ons, potentially totaling up to £56.6 million (€65 million). Prior to this transfer, Núñez had pushed for a move earlier in 2025 amid interest from multiple clubs including AC Milan and Napoli, though those offers were either rejected or insufficient. Liverpool had declined bids in the January window to maintain their title challenge.
