The Uruguayan is enjoying himself in his new home.

Darwin Nunez left Liverpool on a permanent deal this summer to sign for Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.

The confirmation of the striker’s move to Saudi Arabia brought the curtain down on an underwhelming time in the Premier League with Liverpool.

Nunez arrived in the summer of 2022 for what was a club-record fee at the time, and within the same summer that Manchester City signed Erling Haaland, many predicted a new striker rivalry to be born.

That rivalry failed to materialise, and whilst Haaland went on to win the treble with the Cityzens during his first season with the club, Nunez consistently failed to impress during his time on Merseyside.

The Uruguayan managed 20 Premier League goals across his first two seasons at Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp, and Arne Slot held the striker in much lesser regard, deploying him sparingly during his title-winning debut season in charge.

This summer arrived and it was clear that the striker had not worked his way into the Dutchman’s plans for the new season and so it became apparent that an exit from the club would be of best interest to all parties.

He was linked several times with a move to Serie A, but it was Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal that finalised a deal for Darwin Nunez, and off he went.

Since arriving in Saudi Arabia, Darwin Nunez has been thoroughly enjoying himself.

On Saturday night, the striker continued his flying start with his new club as he scored and assisted in Al-Hilal’s 4-0 thrashing of Al-Fahya.

With that goal, Nunez has now found the net in three consecutive pre-season games for Simone Inzaghi’s side, as he continues to show real promise ahead of the new season.

Darwin Nunez demonstrating such form raises the concern once again for Liverpool that they need to act quickly to strengthen their attack before the transfer window shuts.

The loss of Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich, on top of the loss of Darwin Nunez, leaves the offensive department at Liverpool weaker than it was last season, and it is very much apparent that Liverpool do need reinforcements to be brought in before the window shuts on September 1st.
