Nunez has two years left on his current agreement at Anfield.
Promising defender Isaac Mabaya has joined Wigan Athletic on a loan deal until the end of the season.
Mabaya, 20, has been on Liverpool's books since the age of six, while he made his debut in a 1-0 FA Cup defeat to Plymouth earlier this year.
However, the England youth international is now set for a new type of test as he prepares for his first campaign as a professional in the men's game.
Reflecting on his move to the DW Stadium, Mabaya said: "I'm delighted to be here and can't wait to get started.
"Speaking to the head coach about what he expects from me, I believe I can bring value to the team.
"I've had a few conversations with the gaffer, and I really like his philosophies and way of playing.
I think it will be a great place to develop my career.
"I know how big the club is, and can't wait to play in front of the fans.
