Diogo Jota’s death has shocked the footballing world and tributes are flooding in.

The tragic news that Jota, along with his brother Andre Silva, had passed away on Thursday morning has sent shockwaves through the footballing community.

The Liverpool forward got married just two weeks ago to partner Rute Cardosa, with the couple having three children together.

Sometimes things are bigger than football and this is exactly one of those moments, with the tributes that are being paid to the 28-year-old highlighting just how good a human being he really was.

Many have been quick to offer their condolences, especially his current and former teammates, with Darwin Nunez one of those paying tribute on his social media.

Jota was known for being an excellent footballer, but what is far more important is just how kind a person he was.

His Liverpool teammate Nunez was one of the first to let the world know just that, writing a touching message on his Instagram.

“There are no words of comfort for so much pain.

I will always remember you with your smile, as a good companion on and off the field,” Nunez wrote.

“I send all my strength to his family, from where he is I’m sure he will always be with you, especially his wife and three children.”

Other former Liverpool teammates paid tribute, with Naby Keita writing: “I will never forget you,” while Xherdan Shaqiri put: “RIP brother.”

His ex-Wolves teammates also showed their love, with goalkeeper John Ruddy putting on his Instagram story: “Such sad news.

Sending my thoughts and prayers to Diogo and Andre’s family.

He’s 23 years old, still far away from being kind of a finished article – he has so much potential,” as per BBC Sport.

“He has the speed, he can combine with other players, can defend, can press.

It gives us real options for different systems.”

Although his footballing ability should never be forgotten, above all he was an amazing person.

Rest in peace, Diogo Jota.
