Darwin Nunez has removed all Liverpool-related pictures off of his Instagram page in a move that has left fans stunned.

Liverpool got back to winning ways on Sunday with a solid 4-2 win over Tottenham - but Reds fans' mood quickly changed after the game as they spotted the striker's social media move.

The only Liverpool related photo left on his page is his profile picture, which is a snap of the back of his shirt reading 'Darwin' and his squad number, nine.

Otherwise, his Instagram profile is only pictures of him with Uruguay and Benfica and the occasional snap of him and his family.

Nunez has struggled for consistency in front of goal since arriving at Anfield from Benfica for an overall fee of £85million in the summer of 2022.

In 94 appearances, the Uruguayan has netted 33 goals and made 17 assists.

That's a modest return for a striker starting out in the Premier League.

However, the 24-year-old has been guiltier than most of missing a number of golden opportunities to find the back of the net.

His 15 minutes on the pitch at the end of the victory over Spurs demonstrated that, being flagged offside twice and hitting a one-on-one straight at Guglielmo Vicario.

Nunez is now without a goal since the 3-1 win over Sheffield United in early April.

The Uruguayan's tally of 11 league goals this term sees him rank 15th in the top flight this term, with teammate and winger Mohamed Salah coming in fifth with 18 goals.

Title rivals and league leader, Manchester City's Erling Haaland, meanwhile, has bagged 25.

It's not clear why Nunez has deleted evidence of his Liverpool career off his profile, but his future beyond Jurgen Klopp's departure remains unclear.

He has four years remaining on his current deal.

Asked to comment on the struggles of Nunez and Salah in front of goal after the 2-0 loss to Everton last month, Klopp told reporters: “It's tricky.

That's how it is.

"That's a striker's life.

A goalkeeper's life is make 500 saves, then one howler - and everybody talks about this.

A striker's life is you score all the time, then you don't score for a while and then everybody asks why you don't score.
