An eagle-eyed Liverpool fan has spotted a Darwin Nunez locker room detail that seems to confirm his goodbye.
Serie A champions Napoli have stepped up efforts to sign Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez, with both clubs now in direct contact as negotiations enter a decisive phase.
The Uruguay international is understood to have given his green light to the move earlier this week, prompting Liverpool to engage in talks over a potential transfer.
His limited playing time became increasingly apparent in the season’s latter stages, with Nunez failing to start a Premier League match after the victory over Southampton on March 8.
This reduction in opportunities coincided with reports suggesting Liverpool owed Benfica an additional €5 million if he reached 60 starts, though Slot dismissed these claims as unsubstantiated.
Face-to-face discussions between Napoli and Liverpool are said to have taken place this week as well.
According to reports from Italy, Napoli’s first offer will be approximately €45 million with up to €5million in bonuses, while Liverpool is holding out for a package closer to €65m in total value.
Napoli’s sporting director, Giovanni Manna, is leading efforts to bridge the valuation gap.
And keen-eyed Liverpool fans have noticed an interesting detail during Milos Kerkez’ announcement video this Thursday.
A screenshot shared by X user @SamuelLFC shows the Uruguayan’s locker, but with a signature over it.
Many have interpreted it as a big indicator that Nunez himself feels he is leaving the club this summer.
This adds to a growing feeling that Nunez has indirectly confirmed a transfer exit after his social media exchange with Fabrizio Romano as well.
Even former Napoli midfielder Walter Gargano claims he spoke directly with Nunez, who told him, “Yes, I’m coming to Naples?
I’m waiting to sign,” adding yet more credence to the mounting narrative that the forward has mentally already embarked on the move south.
