Darwin Nunez is edging closer to an Anfield exit as Serie A champions have reportedly made him their “dream target” for this summer.

The summer transfer window is soon to open, and reports indicate Nunez’s departure is becoming more imminent.

After a below-average season at Anfield, the Uruguayan forward is reportedly out of Arne Slot’s project.



The new Liverpool boss doesn’t seem interested in keeping him in the squad for next season.

Nunez scored just 7 goals in 47 appearances across all competitions last season.

These numbers aren’t good enough for a top club like Liverpool, and that might be one of the reasons why they are trying to sell him.

Many clubs are showing interest in the forward.

Earlier, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that Nunez is open to both moves — but nothing is confirmed yet.

Now, according to Romano’s latest update, Serie A champions Napoli have identified him as their top target for the striker role.

After winning Serie A last season, Antonio Conte has started a rebuild at Napoli.

The Italian manager is looking for a new centre-forward because he expects Victor Osimhen to leave this summer.

Conte reportedly views Nunez as the ideal fit for his tactical setup, which is why Serie A champions Napoli are now working to finalise the deal.

Romano also reported that Napoli will not explore other striker options for now.

The club is actively focusing on Nunez and plans to continue talks next week to understand how to make the transfer fee and salary feasible.
