A fresh update has emerged about Darwin Nunez's future amid speculation that he could leave Liverpool.

The Uruguay international has been heavily linked with a move away from Anfield over the last few weeks, with potential destinations ranging from Saudi Arabia to clubs across Europe.

The ECHO recently reported that Napoli, AC Milan and Atletico Madrid are all tracking Nunez with a view to a potential move this summer.

Clubs from the Saudi Pro League have also been linked with signing the Liverpool striker, including Al-Hilal.

It remains to be seen where Nunez will be playing his football next season, with Liverpool also being heavily linked with signing a new striker to replace the 25-year-old - including Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike, with the Reds admirers of both forwards.

Now a fresh update has emerged about Nunez's future which could hint at a potential departure.

Fabrizio Romano has reported on X, formerly known as Twitter, that Napoli are getting ready to hold more talks with Liverpool over the possibility of signing Nunez this summer.

It has been claimed that the reigning Serie A champions are looking to make progress on a deal to bring Nunez to Naples, having expressed an interest for several weeks.

Unnamed clubs from the Saudi Pro League are also mentioned in the report as still being in the race to sign Nunez this summer, although it has not been stated how likely it is that he will leave Merseyside.

Liverpool signed Nunez from Benfica in the summer of 2022 for an initial fee worth £64million.

The deal has the potential to rise up to £85.5million with add-ons, with the striker scoring 40 goals since his arrival three years ago, including seven last season as Liverpool won the Premier League title.
