His first senior club, Penarol, based in his native Uruguay, have already profited handsomely from his European transfers.
In 2019, a then 20-year-old Nunez made his inaugural move to Europe, signing with La Liga outfit Almeria.
The Spanish side paid a record-breaking fee for a Uruguayan footballer of approximately £6.94M ($9.33M), but astutely included a 20 percent sell-on clause in the agreement.
Just over a year later, Nunez's boyhood club found themselves in the money.
This resulted in Penarol receiving roughly £4.34M ($5.8M).
According to El Observador, Penarol were also entitled to a further sum when Liverpool opted to sign Nunez in the summer of 2022.
