Tottenham are potentially after the wrong winger amid talks with Savinho stuttering as a readily-available alternative option could be better according to data.
In an unexpected turn of events, the Lilywhites are now quickening the pace to land the Man City wide man ahead of the new season.
Football Insider exclusively learnt on 11 August that Tottenham were in advanced talks with Man City for Savinho after they reportedly submitted a £43million offer for the Brazilian.

Yet, reporting has been disputed with some outlets claiming that City deem the matter “closed” for their pacy winger as they look to retain his services for the upcoming campaign.
All the effort being put in to sign the South American could be actually be a total waste when there was a more achievable and better option all along.
When comparing similar wingers to Savinho on FBRef, Garnacho is one of the names that comes up with the pair both known for their electric speed and tight ball control.

The Argentinian has been heavily linked with a move to west London with Football Insider understanding that Man United will have to lower their asking price for Chelsea to sign Garnacho.

Unlike his South American counterpart, the 21-year-old is desperate to leave Manchester, with Ruben Amorim tired of his antics.
Yet when analysing the data, the United academy graduate was actually superior to the former Girona speedster last season in certain aspects.
Starting two games more than City’s number 26, the number 17 notched five more goals than Savinho, highlighting his hunger to be more direct in front of goal.

Conversely, the Brazilian was more creative, grabbing six more assists than the Argentine, but Thomas Frank may want to bring in an aggressive wide goal scorer to run the channels.
The Red Devil also was more trigger happy, shooting 3.44 times per-90 compared to the Cityzen’s 2.81, hitting the target 1.19 times per-90.
Therefore, the data suggests that if the Dane prefers a more pinpoint and dynamic winger then Garnacho would be his man.

Despite Garnacho having “ruled out all other options” (The Athletic) apart from Chelsea, the prospect of moving to Spurs can still be on the cards considering it is another side in London set to play Champions League football next season.
Moreover, one of the characteristics that makes the new Tottenham boss so likeable and appealling to the 21-year-old is his calm and pleasant nature combined with his arm-around-the-shoulder approach.
At Brentford, he maximised the potential of Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa to make them one of the best duos in the league last year.
Indeed, the Argentinian has gone off the boil in recent time, acting unprofessionally, yet Amorim’s stern stance with the frustrated youngster ensured the relationship was dead in the water.
At Spurs, I could see Garnacho enjoy his football again and benefit from Frank’s stewardship and welcoming demeanour.

Moreover, the South American would be linking up with compatriot Cristian Romero who would provide his fellow countrymen with a smooth transition at his new club.
It is a deal that could happen at the end of the transfer window as the Red Devils get more and more desperate and drop their asking price; shrewd Daniel Levy may swoop in to pinch the number 17.
There’s still hope for the United academy graduate and a move to north London could be what he needs to find his feet again.
