Rangers have significantly boosted their attacking options with the signing of winger Oliver Antman from Go Ahead Eagles.

The Finland international represents a major coup after registering six goals and 16 assists for Go Ahead across all competitions last season, helping the Deventer side win the KNVB Cup — their first major trophy since 1933.

Rangers finished 17 points adrift of Celtic in the Scottish Premiership title race last season, being outscored 112-80 by the Hoops.

But new manager Russell Martin has been going to great lengths to put that right, with Antman the latest through the door following the likes of Oscar Cortes, Thelo Aasgaard and Mikey Moore — the latter joining on loan from Spurs.

Antman was unquestionably the most effective creative force in the Eredivisie last season.

Despite competing with the likes of PSV, Ajax and Feyenoord, it was the Go Ahead man who created the league’s highest volume of quality opportunities, with a division-high 16 big chances (FotMob).

Antman also figured in the Eredivisie’s top 10 for overall chances created at 50, while he was four clear of any other player for assists (15) and eighth for expected assists (6.5).

The 23-year-old wasn’t just laying up others, of course, with six goals of his own placing him third among his teammates, while 37 completed dribbles was 14 clear of any other Go Ahead player and high in the pantheon of Eredivisie wingers.

Landing such an effective winger — who has seven goals and three assists in 22 caps at national team level — at a prime age is a stunning piece of business for Rangers and concrete proof that Martin will do everything he can to bring the title back to Ibrox.

Rangers have now primed themselves with an excellent set of wingers for the new season, but work still needs to be done up front.

Cyriel Dessers was the Scottish Premiership’s top scorer last season, but beyond him, Hamza Igamane is the only player still at the club who notched double figures in 2024/25.

What’s more, the Morocco international is a wanted man, with the likes of Lille, West Ham and Everton all linked with a move for the striker, and Rangers thought to be open to accepting £20million bids.

Rangers have been linked with the likes of Jamie Vardy and Bojan Miovski this summer, and a striker will definitely be needed if the club are to stop Celtic overtaking their Scottish title haul for the first time since the 1920s.

For now, however, fans can rightly celebrate Rangers landing some outstanding winger signings in Antman and Moore, who should seriously revitalise their forward line.
