Leeds United look set to continue their push to sign Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz, but other options are being considered.
The Whites won the Championship with a massive 100 points and 95 goals scored last season, securing their place back in the Premier League in the process.
However, that hasn’t stopped Leeds from targeting a new striker as they look to break the trend of the last six promoted teams being relegated straight back out of the Premier League.
However, is it the right one?

There’s no doubting Calvert-Lewin has enjoyed his high points in the Premier League — not least scoring 16 goals in 33 league appearances and 21 in 39 across all competitions under Carlo Ancelotti in 2020/21.
That form saw him become Harry Kane’s understudy for England, picking up 11 caps and scoring four goals.
What’s more, Calvert-Lewin is also Everton’s record Premier League goalscorer, netting 57 times in 239 appearances in the competition.
However, more recently, the 28-year-old has been dogged by injuries and, as a result, has lost his consistency, scoring just 12 goals in 75 league outings since the start of the 2022/23 campaign.
Looking exclusively at last season, Muniz largely outperformed Calvert-Lewin, despite playing almost 700 minutes less.
Muniz scored eight Premier League goals from 5.81 xG compared to three goals from 6.76 xG for Calvert-Lewin (FotMob).

The former Flamengo marksman was also much more efficient, taking 36 shots to Calvert-Lewin’s 42, but posting a 53% accuracy and 1.80 shots on target per 90 minutes, compared to 48% and 1.12 per 90, respectively, from his Everton counterpart.
Nowhere was this efficiency more apparent than Muniz’s ratio of seven big chances scored and five missed (58.33%), compared to just three scored and a whopping 16 missed (15.8%) from Calvert-Lewin.

Calvert-Lewin isn’t the only striker to have graced Goodison Park last season to be linked with Leeds.
The Whites are also understood to be interested in Beto following the exits of Mateo Joseph and Joe Gelhardt.
Former Premier League scout Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider in July that Everton could accept as little as £25m for Beto, and this makes him well worth considering for Daniel Farke.
After all, like Muniz, Beto scored eight Premier League goals last season, but seven of them came in the second half of the campaign following the return of David Moyes to Everton.
Beto outstrips both Muniz and Calvert-Lewin with his 56% shot accuracy, and while his 36.84% conversion rate on big chances (7/19) is lower than Muniz’s, it is significantly better than his former Everton teammate’s.
None of this is to denigrate Calvert-Lewin, who still has plenty to offer to the right Premier League side.
However, Leeds need someone to offer them a regular source of goals and a player growing into the Premier League rather than struggling to sustain himself.
Beto and Muniz are undoubtedly the smarter options in that regard, so spending big could be the solution for Leeds.
