Arne Slot’s contract is currently set to expire in the summer of 2027.

The Reds romped to the Premier League title last season, something that came as a huge surprise given that many expected them to go through a transition period.

Slot had other ideas, though, and he made taking over from Jurgen Klopp look seamless, with both managers having similar styles of play to a certain degree.

The Dutchman’s more controlled, but still very attacking, approach worked wonders in his first season at Anfield, and now he is looking to repeat the same this time around.

Many fans would argue that there is not a single negative to say about their manager, with all supporters wanting him to stick around for a long time to come.

However, his current contract expires in just two years time and rumours of an extension have gone a little quiet, hence why journalist David Lynch has now provided an update.

When Slot arrived, he was handed just a three-year deal, a very smart move by the board given the fact they had no idea how he would be able to cope with the demands of the league.

But, he has proven that he is well-equipped to manage in England, with all Liverpool fans and players warming to him almost straight away.

The start of the new campaign has also been a promising one after winning all four of their league games, suggesting he is not just a ‘one-season wonder’.

So, a new contract will surely be laid out on the table for him in the very near future, but Lynch has confirmed in his update that it is still all quiet on that front.

“I would be really surprised if there isn’t truth to that [Liverpool preparing an offer for Slot], but personally I haven’t heard anything about it yet,” Lynch told the Sports Mole YouTube channel.

“But I feel if you look at the timings, he’s in the second year of his contract, they wouldn’t want him to get near the end and into the final year.

“So, at some point in the season, I would be surprised if he isn’t put on better terms and he is absolutely deserving of those.

“This is the time to get it renewed and I’m pretty sure those talks will be ongoing now and Liverpool need to get him tied down because what a manager he has proven himself to be.”

Despite the lack of traction, there is not a sense of panic or worry about the situation, and with the signings and backing they have given the Dutchman this summer, it would very much suggest he is in it for the long run.

After already winning the Premier League, Slot will be hungry for more, with the Champions League a trophy he would like to add to his CV.

And, based on the players and coaching staff he has, as well as the people towards the top of the hierarchy at the club, he certainly has everything he needs to be successful.

Slot already has the highest win percentage of any Liverpool manager in Premier League history, and with a few more trophies, he may have even surpassed Klopp’s legacy in a much shorter period of time.

The new contract will almost be guaranteed, but one thing that never is is success, although betting against Slot would likely be a very silly idea.
