Beto may as well start packing his bags at Everton as David Moyes continues his rebuild ahead of the new campaign.

Thierno Barry has come straight into the squad since his £27million move from Villarreal earlier this summer [BBC Sport], making a real impression during pre-season despite not yet hitting the net.

However, his centre-forward teammate, who made a mighty comeback for the Toffees last season with 10 goals in 34 appearances, has struggled far more over the past few weeks.

In fact, Moyes made a point of commenting on Beto‘s poor performances during the Premier League Summer Series, with the manager stating that he had been “disappointed” during pre-season.

Despite a plethora of energetic, passionate, and sometimes game-winning displays last season, the hot-and-cold nature of Beto’s performances has reared its ugly head over the last few weeks.

Mick Brown told Football Insider last month that Everton were open to accepting £25m for Beto, amid strong links with a move to Leeds United earlier in the window, and his exit remains a possibility.

Although the Whites appear set to add Dominic Calvert-Lewin to their ranks, Rodrigo Muniz was still a top target, though a switch to Serie A with Atalanta appears nailed-on for the Brazilian now.

That may force Daniel Farke to rethink his interest in Beto, and with the latest transfer news emerging at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, Moyes is likely to green-light his departure before the season starts.

Football Insider revealed that Everton have submitted a £37m bid for Artem Dovbyk, a 28-year-old striker of AS Roma, another club owned by The Friedkin Group.

The Ukrainian international netted 17 goals in his first campaign at the Stadio Olimpico, having previously notched 24 goals and 10 assists in 39 games for Girona, so his recent record is impeccable.

He could certainly be seen as an instant upgrade on Beto, and if the Toffees are still able to offload the latter for £25m, a total cost of £12m would be a great price for a 36-capped international.

With Barry also signed earlier this summer, it remains to be seen where exactly Beto fits into things ahead of next season, and he is likely to want more minutes on the pitch at 27 years of age.

His exit is not yet set in stone, but if Everton‘s move for Dovbyk materialises ahead of 1 September, Beto may have no other choice than searching for a new club ahead of 2025/26, with Leeds surely still an interested party.
