The most significant long-term absentee remains Gabriel Jesus, who suffered a devastating ACL rupture to his left knee during the FA Cup defeat to Manchester United in January.
Arsenal’s attacking options were further depleted when Kai Havertz required knee surgery following the opening match against Manchester United.
The German forward underwent what the club described as a “minor surgical procedure” in late August, but the injury has kept him sidelined for several weeks.
Arteta had been hopeful that Havertz would miss weeks rather than months, but his absence has forced the manager to rely heavily on new signing Viktor Gyokeres as the sole recognized striker.
Captain Martin Odegaard has endured a particularly frustrating start to the season, suffering two separate shoulder injuries in the space of three weeks.
The Norwegian midfielder first injured his shoulder against Leeds United in August, only to aggravate the same area during the victory over Nottingham Forest.
Now David Ornstein has confirmed that new signing Noni Madueke will be out for at least two months after his knee injury in the 1-1 draw vs Manchester City.
He wrote for the Athletic:
“Arsenal winger Noni Madueke faces around two months out after sustaining a knee injury during Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Manchester City.”
“The 23-year-old started the fixture but was substituted for the returning Bukayo Saka at half-time.”
Madueke signed for Arsenal from Chelsea this past summer for a fee of around £52 million, including add-ons?
He agreed to a five-year contract at the Emirates Stadium.
So far, Madueke has made 6 appearances across all competitions for Arsenal, mostly in the Premier League, but he has yet to score or provide an assist for the Gunners.
