Alexander Isak to Liverpool is still far from done, as David Ornstein has revealed an important update.
After the tragic incident involving the passing of Portuguese forward Diogo Jota, the Merseyside club are heading into the transfer market with heavy hearts.
The Reds have already completed some strong business by signing three major players.
Florian Wirtz has received the most limelight in the transfer window, as the German midfielder rejected two big giants — Bayern Munich and Manchester City — to join Liverpool.
His transfer fee has been the highest amount spent by any club this summer on a single player.
After spending almost £116m on Wirtz, the Premier League champions didn’t hold back and sealed a deal with Bournemouth to bring in Milos Kerkez for a £40m fee.
Although Liverpool quickly filled the gap left by Trent Alexander-Arnold, who left the club in May, the Merseysiders announced his replacement on the same day by signing Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen.
With those major signings completed last month, Slot is now heading towards another potential record-breaking transfer as he looks to bring a striker into the squad.
Slot has shortlisted 2–3 names, but many reports suggest that Newcastle forward Alexander Isak is the Dutchman’s favourite option for the role.

Speaking to Sky Sports, David Ornstein revealed: “If the door was open for Isak, Liverpool would look to try and walk through it, but Newcastle don’t intend to open that door.
Let’s see what he wants to do and when they return to preseason training what his mindset is at.”
Newcastle reportedly don’t want to let go of their Swedish forward, as the club still considers him a key part of their plans for next season.
Isak has scored 20+ goals in each of his last two Premier League seasons and finished last season as the second-highest scorer in the league with 23 goals — just behind Mohamed Salah’s 29.
