Liverpool are making moves this summer and it looks like they might be about to finally sign a striker.
The Reds have been in pursuit of a striker all summer long and they have been linked with many options, although their search appears to have narrowed as of late.
Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike were their main two focuses, with the latter now appearing the most likely after Newcastle pulled out of the race for his signature.
Although this is good news to some extent for Liverpool as it suggests they will finally be signing a striker, it also suggests that Isak will not be leaving, much to the disappointment of Reds fans.
Another reason that suggests their pursuit is over is because Newcastle have already started looking for Ekitike replacements, with the Magpies eyeing up another reported Liverpool target.

The Reds had a long list of options at the start of the summer but over time, they have narrowed their focus and identified only a few targets to become their new number nine.
At one point, Brentford’s Yoane Wissa was discussed, alongside the likes of Ollie Watkins and Marcus Rashford, as per the Daily Mail on Wednesday.
However, according to The Athletic and David Ornstein, Newcastle have now turned their attention to signing the forward after pulling out of the race for Ekitike.

The report states that the Magpies were prioritising a move for the Eintracht Frankfurt striker but after having a €80m (£69.3m) bid rejected for him, they are no longer interested.
Wissa is now their next target although they are yet to contact Brentford or even reach out to the player to agree personal terms, suggesting a lot could still change.
The Athletic conclude by saying that Brentford’s willingness to sell depends on what happens with Bryan Mbuemo as Manchester United are pushing to sign him, suggesting they could still go back in for Ekitike if all else fails.
The Reds have always maintained the stance that Isak is their priority signing and if Newcastle are unwilling to sell, then they would make a move for Ekitike instead.
Now, with Liverpool submitting an official offer for the Frenchman, it appears as if the Magpies have given the Reds their final answer and they will no longer be pursuing the Swede.
This will be a kick in the teeth for some fans as there would have been a glimmer of hope that they could land their ‘dream’ target, but now hope looks lost.
Ekitike is still a more than adequate signing, however, and he is a player with huge potential, suggesting Reds supporters should still be encouraged by the signing Liverpool look set to make.
