Few people in Liverpool’s squad are catching the heat that Darwin Nunez is currently feeling.
The Reds’ No.9 has been a divisive figure at the club ever since arriving from Benfica in 2022.
However, having struggled throughout his debut season last year, Nunez had initially improved markedly in 2023/24.
The goals were starting to flow a little more easily, he was picking up plenty of assists and affecting games positively on a weekly basis.
But somewhere along the line of the last few weeks, Nunez has regressed once more.
With Liverpool struggling badly to put the ball in the net, the 24-year-old has been the main culprit.

Speaking to fans in a Q&A for The Athletic yesterday though, journalist David Ornstein said that it would be a surprise if the Reds did decide to part way with Darwin.
“I very much doubt Nunez will be leaving,” Ornstein reports.
“But that doesn’t mean they will be accepted and there are no signs that dramatic revolution is on the way for Liverpool… more likely smart and necessary evolution.”
If Nunez is going nowhere – and in our opinion that’s a good decision by the way – then maybe Liverpool can bring him in a little bit of help.
Of course, plenty will depend on the future of Mohamed Salah here.
Instead, maybe Liverpool will look at someone like Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush.
Let’s wait and see but if Nunez is sticking around, let’s get him some help to get the best out of him.
