Manuel Akanji’s latest update after joining Inter from Manchester City has attracted plenty of attention from his former teammates.

Amid Pep Guardiola’s busy transfer window, Akanji completed a late loan move from Man City to Inter.

The summer witnessed Guardiola acquire notable stars such as Rayan Cherki and former AC Milan ace Tijjani Reijnders.

Meanwhile, the Etihad Stadium outfit arguably left their most high-profile addition until the last, as Man City signed goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma from PSG.

Before Akanji’s departure, Man City also facilitated the exit of Kevin De Bruyne, who joined defending Serie A champions Napoli.

Akanji and De Bruyne are now set to face each other when Inter travel to Napoli for a Serie A clash on 26 October.

Meanwhile, after completing his move to the San Siro, Akanji wrote on Instagram on Tuesday, 2 September: “Excited for what lies ahead at Inter.

A fresh start, big challenges and an amazing club to call home!”

After Man City signed stars like Reijnders, Guardiola’s men hit the ground running in the Premier League with a 4-0 win at Wolves on the opening weekend.

Summer signings Reijnders and Cherki both scored at Molineux on 16 August, suggesting that Guardiola’s acquisitions could help his side battle defending Premier League champions Liverpool this term.

However, the North West outfit went on to suffer consecutive defeats to Tottenham and Brighton, leaving Man City with plenty of work to do when the top-flight action returns after the international break.

While De Bruyne and Akanji will now be focused on making an impact in Serie A, Guardiola’s men must ensure that they enjoy a positive result against cross-city rivals Manchester United on 14 September.

Failing to beat the Red Devils could already suggest that Man City already don’t have what it takes to win the Premier League title this term, having finished third last season.
