Bournemouth star Dean Huijsen has spoken on his future amid all the high-profile speculation leading to the summer transfer window.
The 20-year-old defender, who joined the Cherries from Juventus for £15 million in 2024, now faces a career-defining decision as clubs prepare to trigger his £50 million (€58 million) release clause this summer.
Fabrizio Romano has already reported that the Spanish international will decide his next club soon, and that a move away could be sealed this month.
Liverpool have emerged as serious contenders having already held preliminary talks with Huijsen’s representatives despite the competition.
With Ibrahima Konaté’s contract expiring in 2026 and Joe Gomez’s injury history, Huijsen depth that Arne Slot could definitely use in 2025/26 as the Reds gear up for a title defence.
There is reportedly “zero progress” regarding a new contract for the Frenchman who has just one year remaining on his deal.
Chelsea are seen as a big threat to Liverpool’s chances.
The Blues are pushing to finalize a deal by early June to ensure Huijsen’s availability for the Club World Cup, leveraging their willingness to meet the €60 million (£51 million) clause.
Huijsen has been instrumental in helping Andoni Iraola’s side to their best-ever Premier League points tally.
But amid all the speculation, the player is keeping cool in the media.
Speaking to Spanish outlet AS, the Cherries defender revealed that he’s not thinking about his future:
“I don’t think about it much.
Every day I go to training, to play in the games, and I’m happy.
“I’m having a good time and I’m not thinking about that.
You are the ones to judge that.”
“I’m not thinking about that, I’m focused on Bournemouth?
We’re having a very good season.”
“We’ve already broken the points record and we want to get as many points as possible this season.”
Huijsen has shown a big game mentality this season, scoring at the Emirates, Old Trafford, and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this term – all headers from setpieces.
