Dejan Lovren has been handed a one-match international ban after making comments about Sergio Ramos and Spain on social media.

The Liverpool defender went live on his Instagram page after Croatia's 3-2 victory over Spain.

Lovren appeared to criticise Spain for their conduct during the game, calling them "rude on the pitch".

He then went further on Instagram and reportedly bragged about elbowing Ramos .

The Real Madrid defender was heavily criticised by Liverpool fans for dragging Mohamed Salah to the turf during the Champions League defeat in Kiev back in May, forcing the Egyptian to leave the field with a shoulder injury which plagued him throughout the World Cup and early part of the season.

According to Sky Sports, UEFA said Lovren had fallen foul of a clause in its disciplinary rules which penalises anyone "whose conduct is insulting or otherwise violates the basic rules of decent conduct".

Lovren will now miss Croatian's Euro 2020 qualifier at home to Azerbaijan in March.
