Liverpool have had a busy summer, signing the likes of Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen, Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt, and Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth.
The Premier League champions still maintain interest in Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak, who is keen on joining the club.
Giovanni Leoni became the eighth signing after joining from Parma last week.
“I’m very happy to be here.
It’s a really great sensation and I’m honoured to be here,” he said.
“Yeah, a lot [of excitement].
I was very happy [about Liverpool being interested]
When I saw this I said, ‘Wow, this is crazy.’ I’m very happy.”
Liverpool have also recouped over £200m this summer, including £65m for Luis Diaz, £56.6m for Darwin Nunez, and £35m for Jarell Quansah, marking the third-highest transfer income by a Premier League club in a single window.
If Liverpool complete a deal for Isak, which could exceed £100m, they would become the biggest summer spenders of all time.
Several players are still linked with exits.
Liverpool are considering loan moves for youngsters Lewis Koumas, James McConnell, and Kaide Gordon.
Gordon spent seven years at Derby County’s academy, progressing through the ranks before earning his breakthrough under Wayne Rooney in 2020.
He later joined Liverpool for a reported initial fee of £1million, potentially rising to £3million if various clauses were met
Gordon made his first-team debut in a 3-0 Carabao Cup win over Norwich City and scored his first goal in an FA Cup victory against Shrewsbury, becoming Liverpool’s youngest-ever FA Cup scorer in January 2022.
After missing the entire 2022-23 season with a long-term injury, Gordon returned the following campaign and signed a new long-term deal.
He spent the first half of 2024-25 on loan at Norwich, scoring once in 10 appearances, before moving to Portsmouth for another spell.
According to The Athletic, Championship sides Swansea City and Derby County are interested in signing him.
