Liverpool are having a blast in the summer transfer window as they build a team capable of retaining the Premier League title.
The Reds barely spent anything at all last year, and still managed to romp to the championship.
Having delivered such an unexpected triumph, Liverpool are now looking to build from a position of real strength, and have well and truly broken out the chequebook.
After spending close to £200m already, Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Hugo Ekitike for around £82m.
But, while Ekitike looks likely to arrive, something is still rumbling on in regards to ‘dream’ target Alexander Isak.
Isak missed Newcastle’s friendly against Celtic on Saturday, with Eddie Howe confirming the speculation over his future had something to do with it.
And according to journalist Mark Ogden, something appears to be developing with Isak and Liverpool.

Had Isak played in his team’s pre-season match at the same time Liverpool were agreeing a deal for Ekitike, few would have batted much of an eyelid.
It would have all-but confirmed that Liverpool were getting nowhere after making an approach for the Newcastle striker last week.

However, that Isak sat out Howe then spoke so publicly about the matter has got the rumour mill whirring all over again.
Speaking on ESPN FC, Ogden claimed that the truth of the whole matter is likely to be revealed in three or four days.

“Liverpool really want Isak, there’s six weeks to go before the window closes,” the reporter began.
“I would be very surprised if Isak is not at least tempted by Liverpool.
“I can’t see Isak just saying ‘no problem, I’ll stay at Newcastle, we’ve only signed one player but it’s fine, I’ll stay, I don’t want to go to Liverpool,'” Ogden continued.
“It doesn’t stack up like that.”
As Rousing The Kop exclusively revealed on Friday, Liverpool have never left the table for Isak.
In theory, the Reds are not opposed to bringing in both the Newcastle man as well as Ekitike.
Despite Isak seemingly being open to joining Liverpool, it is going to take a big push to ease his club’s stance.
Even if Newcastle do then open the door to a sale, they are likely going to stand firm for their full asking price, which could reach as high as £150m.
As a result, while there is clearly some moving parts to this saga, it still feels more likely that Isak will ultimately stay at Newcastle for now.
