Liverpool have agreed a deal on Luis Diaz’s departure to Bayern Munich.

Diaz will leave Anfield after two-and-a-half years in a deal worth €75 million (£65.5M) to the Premier League champions, who reluctantly sanctioned the sale.

The Colombia international first intimated a desire to leave Arne Slot’s side last summer but was denied as the club assessed their squad and market options.

Two offers to improve his contract were made by the Reds but failed to reach a breakthrough due to a disparity between the deals on the table and his demands.

Diaz was stood down from Liverpool’s friendly defeat to AC Milan in Hong Kong as Slot admitted that the uncertainty over his future was a driving factor in the move.

The 28-year-old, who had two years remaining on his existing deal on Merseyside, will now travel to Germany to finalise terms on his move to the Bundesliga giants.

However his exit will not alter Liverpool’s recruitment plans with the recent addition of Hugo Ekitike set to retain their strong options in the attacking department.

Diaz’s sale will see £190M worth of funds recouped on players following the arrival of sporting director Richard Hughes at the beginning of last season.
