Diego Leon sends 'crazy' response to Diego Gomez after Brighton masterclass

Wed 24 September 2025 9:55, UK

Man United left-back Diego Leon shared his instant response to Diego Gomez’s standout performance for Brighton.

Man United agreed a deal to sign Leon back in the January window, though his move was only confirmed in the summer due to age restrictions.

The Paraguay international has yet to feature in the first team under Ruben Amorim, making just a single appearance for the Under-21s.

While he may not play in the first-team anytime soon, especially after Man United’s exit in the Carabao Cup to Grimsby, he was active on social media to share a response to his fellow national teammate Gomez after his latest performance.

Gomez delivered a remarkable display for Brighton in their 6-0 victory over Barnsley in the Carabao Cup, netting four goals.

His national compatriot Leon was quick to share his reaction and posted on Instagram to say: “You are crazy” with numerous head explosion emojis.

While the two players have not shared the same club, Leon and Gomez are two of three Paraguayan internationals to join the Premier League in the last year, alongside Wolves’ Enso Gonzalez.

Gomez has often featured as a rotational option ever since he joined the Seagulls in the winter window, but his latest showing has caught attention.

The performance not only helped ease Brighton into the next round of the competition but also saw the 21-year-old climb to the top of the League Cup scoring charts with five goals.

Despite signing in the summer window, the defender is currently down the pecking order at the club, with Patrick Dorgu and Luke Shaw ahead of the 18-year-old.

While Shaw has been linked with a Man United exit, he has often been trusted by Amorim since his recovery from injury, hinting that he still is in the manager’s plans.

Leon graduated from the Cerro Porteno academy in July 2024 and quickly established himself as the club’s first-choice left-back, featuring in 33 appearances, so he is no stranger to first-team football.

With minutes limited at both academy level and Amorim’s side, a loan in the winter window could help the highly-rated youngster gain some valuable experience to continue his development.
