Portugal legend Luis Figo has paid tribute to Diogo Jota after the Liverpool star was tragically killed in a car crash.
The Reds forward was believed to have been travelling alongside his brother, Andre Silva, in the Zamora region of Spain when the accident happened in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Liverpool released a statement paying tribute to Jota and his brother after the news was confirmed.
Figo, a former Real Madrid and Barcelona star, who won the Ballon d'Or in 2000, has joined the Reds in sending a message of condolence for his compatriot.
On his Instagram story, Figo posted a photo of Jota accompanied by a love heart emoji and prayer hands emoji, along with the caption, "DEP", which means 'Descanse em Paz' in Portuguese and translates to 'Rest in Peace' in English.

Jota and Figo both enjoyed success for the Portugal national team during their playing careers.
The Liverpool forward's success during his time at Anfield made him hugely popular with supporters, earning him the right to his own song.
Based loosely around a song sung in Argentine football by the Buenos Aires side River Plate, the Liverpool version for Jota references Figo, claiming that the Reds star is the superior player.
It became an instant Kop classic and was a hugely popular part of the Anfield hymnbook in recent years.
“Oh, he wears the number 20.
